End users open Horizon Clientto connect to remote desktops and applications from a Mac physical machine. You install Horizon Clienton Mac client systems from a disk image file. My other thought was that this may be down to how Mac handles drawing the remote display, and it doesn't allow any extended apps in general. Some quick Google-fu didn't bring anything up. I checked through the Mac Horizon View client release notes for a mention of Sidecar to no avail. Apr 01, 2020 Mac Instructions.   1. Download and install theVMware Horizon Client for PC on your personal computer or work laptop (the install file is usually located in the download folder)

  2. Reboot your computer


  3. Open the Horizon Client, click the “New Server” button, and enter:vdi.pccc.edu

  4. Set the Domain to: PCCC

  5. Login with your PCCC user name and password

  6. Right-click on the Desktop Pool icon, and ensure PCoIP is selected

  7. Double-click the icon to launch your VDI desktop

  1. Download the Horizon Client for Mac
  2. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client.dmg file to begin the install
  3. Click “Agree” in the user license agreement window that appears.
  4. When the VMWare Horizon Client window appears, drag the “VMWare Horizon Client icon to the Applications folder.
  5. The first time you launch the VMWare Horizon Client, you may see a security popup asking if you want to open the file. Click the “Open” button.
  6. When you open up VMware Horizon Client click “New Server” or “+”
  7. Type in vdi.pccc.edu and click “Connect”.
  8. Make sure the Domain is set to “PCCC” and enter your Username and Password.
  9. Select VMware Horizon Client > Preferences from the menu bar and click PCoIP

Please follow the below instructions to install the VMWare Horizon Client for Mac.

    1. Download the VMWare Horizon Client installer For Mac OS 10.12 – 10.15 by clicking here.
      Mac OS versions older than 10.12 are not supported.
    2. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client.dmg file to begin the install.
    3. Click “Agree” in the user license agreement window that appears.
    4. When the VMWare Horizon Client window appears, drag the “VMWare Horizon Client icon to the Applications folder.
    5. The first time you launch the VMWare Horizon Client, you may see a security popup asking if you want to open the file. Click the “Open” button.
    6. Follow these linked instructions to log in to VDI with 2-Step Verification (2SV).

VDI requires a modern laptop, PC, or tablet.
In general most laptops that are less than 4 years old will run the VDI client without an issue. More detailed laptop requirements can be found in our student guide.
